Job summary

Global Machinery in Sacramento, CA is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide variety of heavy equipment in our service facility. You will work on excavators, loaders, forestry equipment, and diesel-powered machines, performing maintenance, hydraulic rebuilds, and electrical diagnostics with factory training and hands-on support.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of field or shop experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and a commitment

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience repairing heavy construction, agricultural, forestry, or diesel-powered equipment.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Welding and basic fabrication experience.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose hydraulic, electrical, diesel engine, drivetrain, and mechanical issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and scheduled service.
  • Complete repairs ranging from routine maintenance to major component replacement.

Position Overview

We're looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Service Technician who enjoys solving complex mechanical challenges, takes pride in quality workmanship, and wants to continue growing their technical expertise through factory training and hands‑on experience.

What You'll Do

As a Service Technician, you'll diagnose, repair, inspect, and maintain a wide variety of heavy equipment in our Sacramento service facility. Every day brings something different—from routine maintenance to complete hydraulic rebuilds and advanced electrical diagnostics.


You’ll work on equipment including:



  • Excavators

  • Compact wheel loaders

  • Compact track loaders

  • Skid steers

  • Forestry mulchers

  • Chippers & grinders

  • Hydroseeders and turf equipment

  • Spider lifts and specialty access equipment

  • Hydraulic attachments

  • Diesel-powered construction equipment


Your responsibilities will include


  • Diagnose hydraulic, electrical, diesel engine, drivetrain, and mechanical issues

  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and scheduled service

  • Complete repairs ranging from routine maintenance to major component replacement

  • Utilize manufacturer diagnostic software, technical manuals, and service resources

  • Document inspections, repairs, labor, and parts accurately

  • Perform welding and light fabrication as needed

  • Work closely with our Parts and Service teams to ensure efficient turnaround times

  • Participate in manufacturer training and technical development

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures


What We're Looking For

We're looking for technicians who enjoy troubleshooting, take ownership of their work, and are committed to delivering exceptional service.


Qualified candidates will have


  • 5+ years of experience repairing heavy construction, agricultural, forestry, or diesel-powered equipment

  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities

  • Solid understanding of hydraulic, electrical, diesel engine, drivetrain, and mechanical systems

  • Welding and basic fabrication experience

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship

  • Basic computer skills for diagnostics, service documentation, and parts lookup

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical or vocational training preferred)


Tools

Technicians are expected to provide their own professional hand tools required to perform diagnostics and repairs.
