Job summary

Mt. Diablo Resource Recovery is seeking a Service Mechanic to maintain heavy equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and complete inspections per manuals and checklists.

The role requires diagnosing and repairing brake systems, hydraulics, and electrical components to ensure safe and efficient operations. The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of heavy equipment technician experience, with preference for mechanical trades certification and experience with Cummins/Autocar engines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
• Minimum 1 year experience as technician on heavy equipment; capable of servicing challenging maintenance repairs.
• Mechanical trade school certificate or degree preferred.
• Cummins and Autocar experience a plus.
• CDL preferred but not required.
• Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanical and electrical systems for preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections per service forms.
• Inspect and repair brakes and braking systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair air brake systems; replace brakes as needed.
• Inspect lights, inspect and repair vehicle components.
• Identify defects in vehicle and document findings.
• Grease components and inspect hydraulic and packer systems.
• Read electrical schematics and follow safety policies.
• Complete repair paperwork and track parts usage.
