Job summary

IUOE Local 158 Training Fund is recruiting two apprentice heavy equipment operators. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, and possess a valid NYS driver’s license. Successful candidates will receive training for a well-paying job upon completion of their apprenticeship.

Job description

IUOE Local 158 Training Fund will be holding a periodic recruitment to recruit two (2) apprentice heavy equipment operators.

Applications can be obtained Monday through Friday, July 7-11 and August 18-22, 2025 from IUOE Local 158, District 545’s office located at 5612 Business Ave, Cicero, NY 13039 from 7:00am – 2:00pm.

The Committee requires that applicants:

  1. Reside in one of the counties of Cayuga, Cortland, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, St. Lawrence, Seneca, or Tompkins.
  2. Have obtained a high school diploma or GED
  3. Be at least 18 years of age
  4. Have a valid NYS driver’s license and reliable transportation
  5. Able to pass a substance test
  6. Must have at least one year of trade-related experience OR must have successfully completed a construction related pre-apprenticeship OR must have successfully completed a construction related training program

Successful applicants must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions and have a positive attitude. They must be willing to work closely with others and take constructive criticism and learn from it. An outstanding work ethic is a must. In exchange for this dedication to their training they will be rewarded with, upon successful completion of their apprenticeship, the opportunity to work in a well paying job and have the ability to enjoy a good standard of living.
