Job summary

The City of Somerville is seeking a qualified equipment operator to run a range of motorized gear including sweepers, trucks, and loaders. CDL with Hoist Engineer 2B preferred; ability to perform heavy physical work in various weather conditions is essential.

You will load/unload trucks, spread sand, plow and maintain equipment, while following safety guidelines and reporting to supervisory staff. Competitive benefits apply to eligible employees.

Qualifications

• Must possess valid Class B Massachusetts motor vehicle operator's license with a CDL.
• Must possess a Hoist Engineer Class 2B License or obtain within 120 days of appointment.
• Ability to receive and interpret written and verbal instructions.
• Must be computer literate or willing to train on technology.

Responsibilities

• Operate motor driven equipment safely (sweepers, trucks, snow fighters, loaders, backhoes).
• Load/unload trucks; haul materials; plow and sand highways.
• Perform minor maintenance on equipment and general labor tasks as assigned.
• Work in extreme weather; adhere to safety standards and procedures.
