Job summary

The Southwest Florida Water Management District in Tampa, FL seeks a Maintenance and Trades Technician to perform maintenance on canals, lands and assets with heavy equipment. The role supports Four River Basins projects, SWIM restoration, and multiple District sites, with opportunities for advancement and structured pay progression.

Essential functions include mowing, gate and fence line maintenance, litter removal, vehicle operation and related tasks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement within 6 months requires.
• NFES S130/190 and L-180 burn certification within one year.

Responsibilities

• Mows and maintains canals and waterways with heavy equipment.
• Operate heavy equipment including tractors, bulldozers, and loaders.
• Maintain fence lines, gates, and riprap embankments.
• Support emergency operations during storms or wildfires.
• Enter timecards, work orders and related data.
