Job summary

The City of Vallejo is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Heavy Equipment Operator within the Water Department – Distribution Division. This full-time position involves operating complex heavy equipment for excavation, grading, loading, and related maintenance tasks to support a reliable water distribution system.

Three years of relevant experience with schematics maintenance and possession (or ability to obtain) a California Class A driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Three years of increasingly responsible experience in schematics maintenance work involving the operation of construction equipment.
• Possession of a valid California Class A driver's license or the ability to obtain one prior to probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Operate the most difficult heavy construction and maintenance equipment in various maintenance activities (excavating, grading, loading).
• Perform semi-skilled and skilled maintenance tasks as part of the Water Department – Distribution Division.
• Support infrastructure maintenance to ensure reliable water service.
