Job summary

Rocky Mountain Contractors in Montana seeks a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to manage day‑to‑day operation of company machinery at utility construction sites.

You will inspect, maintain, and operate tractors, bulldozers, backhoes, forklifts, and excavators, coordinating repairs with foreman; OSHA/First Aid certifications preferred; union membership required. The role offers a union environment with wage range per contract and benefits including medical/dental/vision and a retirement plan.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment in utility construction.
• First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
• OSHA knowledge for equipment operations, repair and maintenance needed.
• Must be a union member at the job site location.
• Valid CDL and DOT medical card or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy machinery used in utility construction (tractors, bulldozers, backhoes, forklifts, excavators; cranes not included).
• Inspect and grease equipment daily; coordinate repairs with Foreman and mechanics.
• Assist with requisitioning, handling, and transporting materials and small tools from ground level.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
