Job summary

Pitkin County is seeking an equipment operator for the Public Works department. Responsibilities include operating heavy machinery such as loaders and plow trucks for road maintenance and snow removal, alongside assisting in compost operations when required.

The ideal candidate must have experience operating heavy equipment and a valid Colorado Driver's License. Training opportunities for certifications are provided. This position works outdoors under various weather conditions and near traffic.

Qualifications

• Up to 1 year of equipment operating experience.
• Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License.
• 1-3 years of experience for Level II certification.
• 3+ years of experience for Level III certification.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment including loader, snowplow, and excavator.
• Perform general road and grounds maintenance.
• Assist in compost operations when assigned to Solid Waste.
• Act as a first responder in emergency situations.
