Job summary

Salt Lake County seeks a skilled heavy equipment operator to support construction, maintenance, flood control, and landfill operations. The role requires a Class B CDL, a Utah DOT medical card, and related certifications.

You will operate bulldozers, loaders, excavators, and other equipment while following safety standards. The position is full-time, with benefits including holidays, vacation, sick leave, personal days, and retirement options.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of closely related experience.
• Must possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) issued by the State of Utah at the time of hire or within ninety (90) days of the hire date.
• Must obtain forklift certifications within three (3) months of the hire date.
• Some positions may be required to obtain flagging certification within three (3) months of the hire date.
• Must receive a verified negative test result on a mandatory drug test before starting in this position.

Responsibilities

• Operates a variety of heavy equipment to perform Division-specific job duties.
• Performs Division-specific journeyman-level maintenance, repair, and construction work.
• Performs tasks requiring a variety of hand tools and equipment.
• Checks, services, and performs routine maintenance on equipment; tests repaired equipment.
