Job summary

Primoris Services Corporation’s Heavy Civil team in Lockport, LA is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate excavators, bulldozers, graders, and related machinery on civil construction projects.

You will perform daily pre- and post-operation checks, read blueprints and grade stakes, and work with the crew to ensure accurate earthwork while strictly following safety policies.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3-5 years of verifiable experience operating multiple types of heavy construction equipment.
• Proven ability to read and interpret plans, grades, and stakes.
• Strong understanding of excavation, grading, and earthwork principles.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL preferred but not always required.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Physical ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, graders, loaders, scrapers, compactors, and other construction equipment according to project requirements and safety standards.
• Perform daily pre-operation and post-operation checks of equipment, including fluid levels, tire pressure, and general condition, and complete required documentation.
• Conduct minor maintenance and lubrication of equipment as needed and report any mechanical issues or defects to supervisors immediately.
• Read and interpret blueprints, grade stakes, and other construction documents to ensure accurate excavation, grading, and material placement.
• Work collaboratively with ground crew, foremen, and other team members to ensure efficient project execution.
• Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as OSHA regulations.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area around the equipment.
• Assist with other general labor duties on site when equipment operation is not required.
