Heavy Equipment Operator - Port of Pine Bluff, AR

Job Location: Pine Bluff, Arkansas, 71601 United States

Office Location: Onsite

Employment Type: Hourly

Job Type: Full Time

Starting Pay Rate: $19.00 per hour

Day Shift Schedule: M-F 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM Must be available to work OT and weekends as needed

Location Information:

Conveniently located on the Arkansas River, the Port of Pine Bluff serves a number of industries including metals, paper, and steel, and is a Foreign Trade Zone. This port is near Little Rock, Arkansas, served by the Union Pacific Railroad, and offers more than 100,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space.

Description:

  • The primary purpose of this position is to transload materials by using a Friction Crane, Forklift (Taylor Lift), Skid Steer, and other heavy equipment as necessary.
  • Operates and maintains cranes and other heavy equipment, overseeing general management of personnel, equipment, and facility for normal terminal operations.
  • Safe, efficient operation of Friction Rig / Crane or any equipment involved at the terminal.
  • Maintains equipment by performing preventative maintenance, including lubricating, cleaning, and documenting all activities performed daily.
  • Responsible for the crane adjustments, brakes, clutches, motors, and support equipment.
  • Check all fluids and air pressures.
  • Assist existing Crane Operator as needed and operate forklifts, driving trucks and various equipment throughout the Port facility.
  • Inspect all moving parts, cables, boom, and bucket.
  • Responsible for safety of barge, truck or rail cars and all crew members working in the area at all times.
  • Observes load hookup and determines safety of load.
  • Reports potentially unsafe conditions.
  • Manipulates crane controls to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement.
  • Troubleshoots equipment problems and performs minor repairs.
  • Must be willing to work shift and/or overtime hours as dictated by operations.
  • Regular work attendance is required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Machines, Tools, Special Equipment, Personal Protective Equipment Used:

  • 200 Ton Overhead Crane, 140 Ton Friction Truck Crane, 50 Ton Friction Barge Crane, Forklift, Loader, Tractor Trailers
  • PPE: hard hat, vest, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots

Requirements:

  • High school education or general education diploma (GED).
  • Regular work attendance is required.
  • Experience working with Overhead Cranes, Truck Friction Cranes, Barge Cranes, and various equipment is preferred but not required.
  • Valid Driver's License is preferred, but not required.
  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, and follow work rules.
  • Ability to pass training and required testing.
  • Must be willing to work any shift change as needed and work on holidays, weekends, and overtime as required.
