Job summary

City Of Logan is seeking a Full-Time Heavy Equipment Operator for the Environmental department in Logan, Utah. You will operate wheel loader, truck loader, compactor, and dump truck as part of daily landfill operations.

Requirements include a High School diploma or equivalent, a valid Utah CDL Class A, and at least six months of heavy equipment experience. You must be able to lift 75 pounds and work in extreme temperatures. Benefits apply to full-time staff.

Description:

Under general supervision, operates heavy equipment (i.e. wheel loader, truck loader, compactor, dump truck and various other equipment) related to the daily operations of the landfill.

Qualifications:

Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Must possess a valid Utah Commercial Driver's License (CDL) at a level appropriate to the equipment operated (Class A). Experience in customer service. Must have six (6) months of experience operating heavy equipment. Computer experience desirable. Knowledge of hazards and applicable safety precautions for equipment operation is required. Must be able to operate controls of vehicle, repeatedly using wrists and hands. Ability to work in extreme hot and cold environmental conditions. Must be capable of lifting in excess of 75 pounds without adverse consequences. Must be able to climb in and out of vehicles repeatedly.

Responsibilities:

Will be responsible to manage green waste materials, keep equipment maintained, create compost product, build roads, water and sweep roads.

Will be responsible for the placement, compaction, and daily coverage of solid waste, loading of finished products into public or private vehicles and answering customer questions about product usage.

Will be responsible for the loading of transfer trucks and other operations within the transfer station. Transport of solid waste from Transfer Station to the North Valley Landfill.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of landfill and composting process helpful. Knowledge of hazards and applicable safety precautions for heavy equipment operation. Knowledge of equipment maintenance, capabilities, limitations and safe operations. Able to work in extreme hot, cold, wet, and dusty conditions. Must be capable of lifting 75 lbs. without adverse consequences. Ability to establish satisfactory working relationship with fellow employees and the general public.
