Job summary

R. J. Corman Railroad Group, LLC is seeking Heavy Equipment Operators/Laborers to join our Toledo, OH team.

You will transport, operate, and service heavy equipment used in clearing railroad derailments and handle heavy materials on site. Applicants must possess a CDL-A with no restrictions and be willing to travel frequently and work on call 24/7. DOT regulations knowledge, the ability to operate Sideboom, Track Loader and excavators, and passing background/drug tests are required.

Qualifications

• CDL-A license with no restrictions and a valid medical card preferred.
• Willingness to travel frequently to job sites and be on-call 24/7.
• Experience operating heavy equipment such as Sideboom, Track Loader, Excavator, Vac Truck, Grapple Truck.
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and physical capacity test.

Job description

R. J. Corman is currently seeking Heavy Equipment Operators/Laborers to join our team in Toledo, OH.

Responsibilities

• Transporting, operating, and servicing heavy equipment used in clearing railroad derailments.
• Material handling of heavy steel chains, blocks and steel cables, and other devices.
• Practice safe working habits and ensure proper PPE is being used.
• Safely drive, operate, and maintain CDL-A required vehicles and equipment.
• Maintenance, cleaning, and set-up of equipment requiring use of small and large tools, including cutting torch and welding.
• Digging, hammering, and other physical types of work with various tools.
• Follow DOT regulations, ensuring proper permits and driving regulations are followed.
• Communicate with team and supervisor throughout the job process.
• Other duties as assigned.

Specialized Or Technical Knowledge, Education And Experience

• Valid CDL-A with no restrictions, manual endorsement, and DOT medical card highly preferred.
• Ability to work on call 24/7 and travel frequently to job sites.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations, permits, and driving requirements.
• Ability to operate heavy or specialized equipment, including Sideboom, Track Loader, Excavator, Vac Truck, Grapple Truck, and similar equipment.
• Must pass background, drug screen, and physical capacity test.

Physical Requirements

• Lifting 100 lbs. maximum, with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects up to 50 lbs.
• Material handling of heavy steel chains, blocks and steel cables, and other devices.
• Digging, hammering, and other physical types of work with various tools.
• Comfortable with working at heights over 25 feet on railroad cars, on bridges, over water, or in water.

Environmental Conditions

• Be comfortable working outside in all weather conditions.
• Travel frequently to job sites.
• Must live within 45 minutes of the R. J. Corman shop.
• Ability to work on call 24/7.
• Comfortable working on railroad cars, bridges, over water, or in water.
