Job summary

The Town of Brookline DPW invites applications for a Heavy Motor Equipment Operator (MEO II) to join the Highway and Sanitation Division. This role performs skilled and manual tasks, operating dump trucks, street sweepers, and other heavy equipment, and supporting snow and ice operations as needed.

Responsibilities include pothole and road repairs, vehicle inspections, sanitation collection, and assisting in emergency response.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of experience operating heavy trucks and equipment, preferably in construction, utility, roadway, or sanitation work.
• Experience in snow and ice operations preferred.
• Valid Massachusetts CDL, Class B.
• Valid MA Hoisting Engineer’s License.

Responsibilities

• Operate dump trucks, front-end loaders, street sweepers, sanitation packers, and other heavy vehicles and equipment.
• Transport personnel and materials; perform pothole, sidewalk, and road repairs.
• Conduct regular vehicle inspections and support snow plowing and sanding.
• Assist in trash, yard waste, and dumpster collection and emergency response operations as needed.
