Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an Operator II to operate heavy equipment in accordance with safety policies and procedures. The role requires attention to maintenance, ability to read load charts, and adherence to pre‑task plans.

The Operator II will work with a variety of machinery on construction projects, ensuring efficient operation while maintaining safety standards. Collaboration with team members and adherence to company directives are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Requires equipment certifications as applicable
• Minimum one year of related experience
• Valid driver’s license with endorsements as required by law
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and manuals
• Ability to operate equipment via levers, gears, pedals, and steering wheels
• Independent work with strong listening and communication skills
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs with assistance as needed

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment such as blade, dozer, loader, scraper, forklift/telehandler, crane, bobcat/skid‑steer, boom lifts/aerial lifts, roller, backhoe, and track crane
• Follow prescribed safety regulations and maintain clean, orderly work area
• Perform routine maintenance and monitor equipment for malfunctions
• Follow work plans and pre‑task cards
• Build relationships across diverse backgrounds and levels
• Perform other duties as assigned
