Summary of Job Duties:
The Heavy Equipment Operator I is responsible for operating heavy equipment, such as tractors, trailers, gasoline shovels, backhoes, front-end loaders, and dump trucks and other heavy mechanized equipment. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma

  • At least one year of experience in operating heavy, mechanized construction and maintenance equipment or in a related area

  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least two or more years of experience in operating heavy, mechanized construction and maintenance equipment or in a related area

  • CDL License

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of procedures for operating heavy, complex, mechanized equipment in accord with manual, safety regulations, and other instructions

  • Knowledge of the operation of heavy equipment, driving, and moving mechanized equipment

  • Ability to operate heavy, complex mechanized equipment

  • Ability to service and perform minor maintenance on heavy equipment

  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions and explanations

  • Skill in the operation of heavy equipment

  • Knowledge of CMMS/Work Order system usage, mobile technology

  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Programs including email and spreadsheets

$36,300 - $39,930 Commensurate with education and experience

Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act)

The Student Right to Know and Campus Security Act was passed in 1990 and was amended in 1998 to form the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act.
