Job summary

Gray & Son, Inc. in Baltimore seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator to join the Grading and Utility teams on large-scale projects. You will operate excavators, loaders, backhoes, and graders, conduct daily maintenance, and support safety meetings.

Responsibilities include performing daily greasing, pre-shift checks, coordinating with crew signals, and moving loads with various equipment. A $3,000 sign-on bonus is offered for applicants with at least two years of experience.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, backhoes and graders.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for daily equipment greasing, morning “walk arounds” and fluid checks. Complete daily maintenance checklist to ensure equipment is properly maintained and records are kept.
• Adjust hand wheels and pedals to operate attachments such as blades, buckets, scrapers, and swing brooms; start engines and control machines like bulldozers, excavators, graders and backhoes.
• Align machines with reference stakes; coordinate machine actions with other crew members and signals.
• Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, and materials using trucks, tractors, cranes, shovels, graders and related equipment.
• Attend and support Foremen/Superintendents during morning huddles and toolbox talks.
• Other duties as assigned by Foreman or Superintendent.
