Job summary

MGC Contractors, Inc. seeks a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator for our New Mexico division in Alamogordo. You will drive and operate dozers, loaders, backhoes, scrapers and related attachments at construction sites, reading blueprints and ensuring safe, efficient grading and earthwork.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED and 3–5 years of related equipment experience; 5+ years preferred. The job requires outdoor work in all weather with occasional overtime and a safety-first mindset.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3–5 years of related experience operating dozer, loader, backhoe, grader or scraper.
• 5+ years of related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operating hand wheels, levers, and pedals to drive machines and control attachments.
• Grading or redistributing earth, aggregates, or materials for structures.
• Operating GPS and laser leveling machine to regulate elevation and slopes.
• Attaching equipment and aligning depth gauge markers per guidelines.
• Monitoring gauges and ensuring machinery operates correctly.
• Inspecting equipment and reporting condition issues.
• Reading blueprints and site surveys and signaling coworkers.
