Job summary

The Department of Environmental Conservation, State of New York, seeks two Construction Equipment Operators to perform critical maintenance and rehabilitation of infrastructure and facilities across campgrounds, boat launch facilities, roads, and utilities. A valid driver’s license is required and a Class B CDL must be obtained within 12 months.

This is a full-time, temporary appointment with roughly 5% travel and a salary range of $19.33 per hour.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in the operation of equipment and possession of a Valid driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle operated.
• Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain and work in remote areas.
• Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Critical maintenance and rehabilitation work on infrastructure and facilities, including campgrounds, boat launch facilities, offices, flood control facilities, recreational facilities, road systems, vehicles, foot trails, utilities, bridges and dams.
• Operate dump trucks, tractors, bulldozers, excavators, front end loaders and other small equipment.
• Ensure safety and compliance with relevant laws and agency policies.
