Job summary

Ruston Paving in New York is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate a range of machinery used in asphalt paving and site work. You will support grading and paving crews, perform routine maintenance, and ensure compliance with safety standards on diverse construction projects.

The role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and a proactive approach to learning. Prior experience with heavy equipment and a valid in-state license are preferred, with opportunities for training and career

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of heavy equipment experience.
• Site excavation and/or paving experience is required.
• Valid in-state driver’s license (or ability to obtain) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates construction or power equipment including excavator, grader, bulldozer, backhoe, front end loader, skid steer, asphalt paver, dirt/asphalt roller, asphalt reclaimer, soil stabilizer, and asphalt milling machine.
• Works with and assists grading or paving crews to remove or install materials and may assist ground personnel with hand tools.
• Occasionally operates jackhammers, saws, and other small equipment as required.
• Performs routine maintenance and emergencies and reports mechanical problems for repairs.
• Ensures heavy equipment is safely stored and maintained.
• Assists in the installation and maintenance of traffic control devices.
• Follows safety procedures and company policies at all times.
• Performs pre- and post-trip inspections and notes defects.
• Follows proper safety and incident reporting procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
