Location: Charleston, SC 29406

Sanders Brothers Construction is seeking Heavy Equipment Operators for grading projects in the Charleston area. With over 50 years of experience supporting customers statewide, we value the role of our operators in maintaining our service quality.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Operate heavy earth-moving equipment such as dozers, excavators, or motor graders to prepare sites according to project specifications.
• Construct and grade roads, building pads, and ponds to meet required slopes and grades.
• Operate equipment efficiently to achieve production goals.
• Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on equipment, reporting usage as required.
• Assist with manual material movement using shovels.
• Work in various weather conditions across the tri-county area.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, reporting safety concerns promptly.
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education:

• 1-2 years of experience operating heavy earth-moving equipment.
• Experience with two or more types of equipment (e.g., dozer, grader).
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Negative drug test required prior to employment and maintained throughout employment.
• Must pass background checks per company standards.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Flexible schedule, including overtime and weekends.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions, including exposure to dust, dirt, noise, and temperature extremes.
• Must pass safety training requirements.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Experience building retention ponds to specified slopes.
• Ability to program GPS devices on equipment.
• Experience with fine grading using various equipment.
• Valid driver’s license.
