Job description

Position Overview

The position is responsible for operating street sweeper equipment to clean and maintain city streets. It involves performing inspections, cleaning, minor maintenance, and operating various vehicles and equipment related to street maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Drive street sweeping equipment to remove trash, debris, and other contaminants from streets.
  2. Perform daily pre- and post-operational inspections of equipment, including washing and cleaning.
  3. Operate controls for rotary brushes and water spray systems.
  4. Dump collected refuse into designated disposal areas.
  5. Perform minor maintenance such as checking fluids and tire pressures.
  6. Sweep park facilities and perform grounds maintenance as needed.
  7. Operate dump trucks, snow plows, salt spreaders, and other related equipment.
  8. Assist with street repairs and maintenance tasks such as pothole repair, concrete repair, and crack sealing.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of street maintenance equipment and their operation.
  • Ability to operate street sweeper, dump truck, pickup truck, and basic hand tools.
  • Valid Class B CDL license required; a Class A license with Tanker endorsement preferred. Must obtain a Class A license within six months.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment driving physical.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing 25 pounds or more.
