POSITION SUMMARY

Under the immediate direction of supervisor, the Equipment Operator safely operates plant mobile heavy equipment to include haul truck, motor grader, dozer, loader, etc. to bring raw materials from pit to plant in a safe and efficient manner at maximum loading capacity. Other plant operation duties may be assigned.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

u2022 Must be able to or willing to learn to operate all other mobile equipment, including: haul truck, Excavator, motor grader, sweeper, water truck, Bobcat, and loader
u2022 Operate equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with training and manufactureru2019s instruction
u2022 Perform pre-shift safety inspection on the vehicle systems, equipment and accessories
u2022 Perform preventative maintenance and service mobile equipment
u2022 Report needed repairs to supervision
u2022 Ensure cargo is properly loaded according to safety requirements
u2022 Responsible for good housekeeping of equipment
u2022 Assist in plant maintenance and repairs
u2022 Assist with operation of other equipment as needed
u2022 Adhere to MSHA and plant safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulations
u2022 Perform duties with minimum supervision


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


u2022 High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
u2022 Working knowledge of heavy construction equipment
u2022 3-5 yearsu2019 experience operating heavy mobile equipment preferred
u2022 Experience with a variety of hand tools

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

u2022 Must be able to work 12 hour shifts, possible weekends, overtime, and holidays as needed
u2022 Must be able to read equipment operating manual
u2022 Must be able to complete pre-shift inspection report
u2022 Must be able to communicate over CB radio or with hand signals and warning sounds, with coworkers regarding movement of vehicles and mobile equipment
u2022 Possess basic mathematical aptitude to complete daily reports
u2022 Must be able to wear all required safety equipment
u2022 Must be able to perform duties in a safe manner
u2022 Must be able to read and interpret gauges
u2022 Proven ability to work in a TEAM environment
u2022 Must be able to work irregular shifts and work days/nights and weekends
u2022 Must be able to wear all required safety equipment


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


u2022 Must have good hand/eye coordination and be able to operate hand/foot controls
u2022 Possess good vision to perceive depth at close range and distances up to 150 feet
u2022 Must be able to climb on and off equipment to operate and service
u2022 Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel in limited space in cab of vehicle
u2022 Must be able to sit and operate equipment for long periods up to 10+ hours per day
u2022 Must be able to bend, stoop, climb and reach around mobile equipment
u2022 Capable of lifting up to 50 lb.
u2022 Must work outside in all weather conditions consistent with extreme ambient temperatures: heat, cold, wetness, dryness, dust, and noisy conditions
u2022 Must be able to work at various heights

WORKING CONDITIONS


Larger equipment is typically air conditioned. There will be times when outside assignments may require periods of work in all weather conditions-heat, cold, wet or dry and dusty. Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 85 dbs.
