Icon Fitness in Hampton Roads is seeking an Equipment Operator to handle heavy machinery on construction sites. You will work with supervisors to complete tasks safely and according to project specs.

The role requires operating bulldozers, excavators, rollers, and loaders; following hand signals; locating underground services; and maintaining safety standards. Overtime and outdoor work are common.

• Ability to follow instructions and provide feedback as needed.
• Ability to identify and resolve issues related to equipment operation and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, and materials using trucks, crawler tractors, shovels, graders, or related equipment.
• Start engines, move throttles, switches, and levers, and depress pedals to operate machines.
• Locate underground services such as pipes and wires prior to beginning work.
• Align machines with reference stakes and guidelines or ground or position equipment, following hand signals of other workers.
• Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.
• Monitor operations to ensure that health and safety standards are met.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
