Job summary

The City of Buffalo is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to operate a range of specialized and heavy-duty machinery in municipal work settings. You will perform routine maintenance, follow work orders, and ensure safe operation under supervision with potential supervision of Laborers and other personnel.

Minimum qualifications require one year of full-time experience operating heavy equipment such as hi-lift with bucket, tractor-trailer, and wing plow or plow.

Qualifications

• ONE YEAR of full-time experience in operating specialized heavy-duty equipment including hi-lift with bucket, tractor-trailer, and dump truck with wing plow or plow.
• Training certificate in hi-lift with bucket, tractor-trailer and dump truck with wing plow or plow must be presented at filing.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of specialized and heavy-duty equipment such as back hoe, hi-lift with bucket, front end loader, dump truck with plow or wing plow, bulldozer, street sweeper, tractor-trailer, and other related equipment.
• Perform minor maintenance and daily checks (grease fittings, fuel/oil, etc.).
• Carry out maintenance or upkeep of equipment and perform manual work related to operation.
• Report equipment problems and document issues.
• Wear safety equipment as required.
• Perform related duties as required.
