Job summary

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator in Franklinton, LA to load, transport, and maintain district equipment using a lowboy truck and other machinery. The role requires a Class A CDL, ability to lift 50 lbs, and basic computer skills, with a starting hourly rate of $22.52 for the MEO-2 HEAVY position.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in mobile equipment operations.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the primary operator of a lowboy truck to load, transport, and deliver equipment.
• Operates additional lower-level equipment such as dump trucks, skid steers, rollers, tractors, and various attachments.
• Performs routine safety inspections, reports equipment issues, and follows proper binding procedures to ensure safe transport.
• Conducts minor mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance, and completes required documentation.
• Assists with other assigned duties as needed, including emergency or disaster response activities.
