Job summary

The Colonial Group is seeking an Equipment Operator to join our coke-handling team. You will operate CAT 980 Loader or CAT D8 Dozer and support daily operations to move, stockpile, and prepare petroleum coke for distribution.

Qualifications include an active driver’s license and extensive experience operating heavy equipment; you must read, write, and understand English, be safety-conscious, and able to work outdoors, shifts, weekends, and holidays. Training and safety programs are emphasized.

Responsibilities

• Operate CAT 980 Loader (or equivalent) and CAT D8 Dozer (or equivalent) daily.
• Assist the operation with tasks to meet customer expectations (maintenance, clean-up, safety checks).
• Perform thorough pre- and post-trip inspections.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment.
• Expand personal knowledge of operating equipment.
• Report maintenance issues to the maintenance crew.
• Understand and meet critical service requirements.
• Participate actively in safety program and attend safety meetings.
• Ensure environmental compliance.

The Equipment Operator will contribute to a coke-handling team by operating several pieces of equipment that will help move, stockpile, and prepare petroleum coke for distribution.

Here is what you will be doing:

• Operate any one of the following on a daily basis: a CAT 980 Loader (or equivalent) and a CAT D8 (or equivalent) Dozer
• Assist the operation with other tasks deemed necessary to meet customer expectations, i.e. maintenance, clean-up, safety observations and inspections
• Perform thorough pre and post-trip inspections
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment
• Expand personal knowledge of operating equipment
• Report maintenance issues to the maintenance crew
• Understand our critical service requirements and ensure they are met
• Take an active role in our safety program, including attendance at all safety meetings, and ensure safe behaviors
• Ensure environmental compliance

Requirements of a successful Material Handling Operator:

• Active driver's license
• Extensive experience operating large pieces of heavy equipment
• Read, write, speak, and understand English
• Should understand best practices for maintaining and safely operating Heavy Equipment
• Safety-conscious and understand safe work practices
• Comfortable with heights, including the ability to walk up and down conveyor belt lines and climb ladders
• Pass a drug screen, possess a current Driver’s License and TWIC card at the time of applying

• You will be working outdoors and, as a result, are exposed to the elements
• Handle large tools and equipment up to (60 lbs.)
• Climb on and off equipment
• Ascend and descend ladders
• Work shift work, weekends, and holidays
