Job summary

NPL Construction Co. is seeking an experienced Equipment Operator to join our field crew in Maryland. You will safely operate heavy equipment, move earth, and support project teams under a foreman’s supervision. On-the-job training is provided to ensure you meet site safety and operational standards.

Your duties include daily pre-shift inspections, loading and unloading equipment, and performing routine maintenance. Minimum 1 year of equipment experience near workers and utilities is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• 1+ year experience safely operating equipment near workers and underground utilities.

Responsibilities

Position Overview

As an experienced Equipment Operator, you will receive paid on‑the‑job training and operate heavy equipment to move earth, tools, and materials between job sites. Under the supervision of a Foreman, you will work with a crew to complete tasks safely and efficiently.

What You’ll Do

• Safely operate heavy equipment such as skid steers, backhoes, trenchers, pavers, dozers, milling saws, road graders, hydro‑excavators, track hoes and more.
• Load and unload equipment and materials.
• Perform daily pre‑shift vehicle and equipment inspections.
• Carry out regular maintenance and cleaning on assigned vehicles and equipment.
• Maintain all industry‑required operator qualifications.
• Perform other tasks as directed by leadership.

What You’ll Have

Work Environment

• Work sites are outdoors and may involve extreme weather conditions.
• All safety instructions are written and spoken in English; fluency in English is required.
• Tasks include lifting, standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching, crouching, and crawling; up to 50 lbs may be lifted.
• Operations occur within the “red zone” of heavy equipment.
• Safe work requires quick, accurate hand‑eye coordination and constant vigilance.
