Job summary

APTIM Federal Services, LLC seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator for projects at Hunters Point Naval Shipyard, SF, CA. Operate excavators, do trenching and backfill, and prepare subgrade while adhering to safety and project requirements.

Minimum 3 years' construction experience locally. Must pass pre-employment physical and drug test; OSHA HAZWOPER training preferred. Team will support environmental and shoreline rehab efforts under prevailing wage guidelines.

  • Preferred candidates have extensive excavator experience for trenching and demolition.
  • Ability to read survey stakes for alignment and grade.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screen; OSHA HAZWOPER training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and maintain equipment daily to ensure safe operation.
  • Fasten attachments, connect hydraulic hoses, belts, and perform minor repairs.
  • Pass certification tests prior to operating certain equipment.
  • Complete annual physical examination and comply with safety policies.

Job description

APTIM Federal Services, LLC team has several projects at Hunters Point Naval Shipyard, San Francisco, CA. The projects will investigate, excavate, and restore properties that have environmentally and radiologically impacted soil; restore the shoreline and construct seawalls in support of the redevelopment of the San Francisco Bay waterfront. We are seeking a construction workforce who are up to the operational challenges of these high profile and critically important projects.

These projects pay the Federal prevailing wage scale (Davis-Bacon Act).

Heavy Equipment Operator Job Summary

Operate several types of power construction equipment, such as backhoes, excavators, hoe rams, bulldozers, rubber tire loaders, end dumps, compactors, and/or skid steer to excavate, backfill. Compact and prepare sub grade and final grade tasks.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
  • Inspect and maintain equipment daily to insure safe operation
  • Fastens attachments, connects hydraulic hoses, belts, etc and perform minor repairs.
  • Will be required to pass certification testing prior to operating some equipment.
  • Annual physical examination required.
  • Responsible for observing and complying with all company safety and project policies. Perform other duties as required.
Basic Qualifications
  • The preferred candidates will have considerable experience utilizing excavator to conduct trenching and demolition activities
  • Ability to read survey stakes for alignment and grade.
  • Knowledgeable of OSHA regulations regarding excavation methods and practices.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have acceptable driving record
  • Dependable transportation and cell phone service
  • Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
  • Preferred applicant will have current OSHA HAZWOPER training.
  • Minimum 3 years' relevant construction experience and live locally (daily commute) to Hunter's Point.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $30 per hour. Compensation depends on several factors including: experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
