Overview
Hana Engineers and Consultants, LLC is seeking a full-time Heavy Equipment Operator to support our growing team. This role is remote, with a preference for candidates located in Northern Virginia, Eastern West Virginia, or Western Maryland.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain a variety of small and heavy equipment including skid steers, backhoes, excavators, track hoes, and dozers.
- Complete field reports and maintain equipment in good working condition.
- Oversee delivery and off-loading of materials.
- Perform tasks safely, including use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators and protective suits when required.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience operating heavy equipment or formal heavy equipment hands-on training program graduate.
- Considerable knowledge of operating principles and maintenance requirements of heavy machinery.
- Must be willing to work in various weather conditions.
- Must be willing to work extended hours (hours worked beyond 40/week earn 1.5x hourly payrate).
- Must be open to up to 75% overnight travel (lodging and per diem provided).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
- 40-hour HAZWOPER and 8-hour refresher (training provided for qualified candidates).
- Valid driver’s license with safe driving record required.
- CDL.
- Must be able to pass a background check (federal facility access required).
- Must be able to pass a DOT physical to include a drug screen and physical exam.
- High school diploma, GED, or vocational school required. Technical training or college coursework in environmental science a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and perform physical tasks including lifting up to 100 pounds.
Pay
- $25 - $30/hour, depending on experience.
