Job summary

G R Birdwell Construction is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to support sitework and earthmoving projects in Pasadena, TX. You will operate backhoes, excavators, rollers, dozers, and rough terrain forklifts under supervision, ensuring safe and productive operations.

Responsibilities include lay-outs with lasers, grading, trenching and backfilling, adhering to OSHA standards, coordinating equipment and spoil management, and contributing to timely project completion.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment on construction sites.
• Knowledge of safety standards and OSHA regulations.
• Ability to read grade and layout using lasers and grade stakes.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate heavy equipment (Backhoe, Excavator, Roller, Dozer, Rough Terrain Forklift) to perform grading and earthwork tasks.
• Perform lay-outs using rotating laser and slope laser to ensure level and sloped grades.
• Carry out trenching and pit excavation with proper benching and soil support.
• Execute finishing applications and compaction to achieve required densities and finishes.

Industrial Civil Construction Contractor specializing in structural concrete and sitework/earthwork looking for Heavy Equipment Operators (Backhoe, Excavator, Roller, Dozer, Rough Terrain Forklift, etc.).

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Superintendent/Foreman a Heavy Equipment Operator will carry out assignments related to operation of heavy equipment in relation to the following areas:

Is Responsible for Lay-Outs

• Sets-up and uses a rotating laser to ensure a level grade.
• Sets-up and uses a Slope laser to ensure a sloping grade.

Is Responsible for Fine Grade

• Maintains production with fine grade operation such as placement of rock trucks.
• Ensures proper grade is obtained
• Determines equipment needed as well as rate of delivery for rock.

Completes Trenching & Pit Excavations

• Controls and maintains lay-out lines during excavation.
• Maintains OSHA standards with benching and slopes during and after operation.
• Determines what type of lay-back or bench is needed for safe working conditions by type of soils.
• Determines a percentage of spoils to remain for backfill if using on-site materials and places in a manner that is free from wet conditions.
• Determines how many spoil trucks will be needed for a continuous flow without trucks stacking up or equipment setting.
• Determines what type of equipment is needed.

Completes Finishing Applications and Hoisting

• Determines what type of equipment is needed to produce the required compaction.
• Exercises the proper methods of backfilling in lifts (for example keep lifts level and consistent for proper compaction.)
