HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

Classification: Seasonal

Compensation: Prevailing Wage or comparable

Work Location: Montana/North Dakota/Wyoming

Position Objective

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. Heavy equipment may include front-end loaders, graders, rollers, skidsteers, excavators, pavers and other pieces of heavy equipment.

Essential Functions

• Knowledge of equipment safety and the ability to operate in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life.
• Knowledge of operation of front-end loaders, graders, rollers, skidsteers, excavators, pavers and other pieces of heavy equipment.
• Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
• Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored.
• Advise job foreman of any requirements for maintenance or repairs.
• Demonstrate knowledge of road construction and maintenance techniques.
• Properly follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
• Maintain daily records.
• Demonstrate self-motivation, and excellent communication, time management and interpersonal skills.
• May perform other related duties.

Competencies

• Must meet minimum age requirements.
• Completion of grade 12 or equivalent preferred.
• Valid driver's license required, Commercial driver's license helpful.
