Job summary

Nucor is seeking a yard operations associate to join our industrial team in the Jackson area. You will safely operate heavy equipment, follow OSHA safety procedures, greet customers, and ensure materials are loaded and unloaded correctly.

Responsibilities include daily equipment inspections, radio communication with the yard team, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment while supporting efficient production and logistics.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies per OSHA.
• Operate mobile heavy equipment (front-end loader, wheel loader, trackhoe, excavator, scrap handler).
• Communicate over radio with team members for traffic coordination, production, and safety procedures.
• Perform daily inspections on equipment and report defects.
• Greet customers and direct them to unload locations.
• Inspect materials for prohibited items (e.g., propane tanks, batteries) before unloading.
• Interact with customers and team to maintain a safe yard.

• Greet customers coming into the yard and direct them to the proper location to unload materials from their vehicles.
• Inspect material brought in by our customers for existence of non-acceptable items and ensure that those prohibited materials are not left on Company property.
• Interact with customers and team members to facilitate a safe and productive yard environment.

• 2+ years experience using a front-end loader, wheel loader, trackhoe, excavator, or scrap handler in an industrial/outdoor work environment is preferred.
