Job summary

Continuum Environmental Services LTD is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator in Houston, TX, to manage excavators, backhoes, and bulldozers on landfill gas construction sites. You will excavate trenches, install pipelines, backfill, grade surfaces, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires travel of 3–6 weeks at a time with monthly home time, and a valid driver's license. You will contribute to a nationwide effort while maintaining equipment and adhering to safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Must be 19 years of age or older.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license in good standing.
  • Proven experience operating heavy equipment in drilling or construction environments.
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and industry regulations related to heavy equipment and drilling operations.
  • Must be willing to travel 3-6 weeks at a time, with one week spent at home each month, and comfortable with lodging in hotels.
  • Must be capable of walking long distances, working extended hours, and lifting/carrying over 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, lift, push, pull, bend and twist.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in safely operating vehicles and equipment, including pickup trucks and smaller machinery.
  • The ability to work safely in extreme hot and cold weather conditions.
  • Having previous experience in Landfill or Construction industries is preferred.
  • Fluency in multiple languages is desirable.
  • Possession of specialized certifications or training is considered a bonus.

Job Description

The Heavy Equipment Operator will be responsible for operating and managing heavy machinery for landfill gas construction projects. This role includes excavating trenches for pipelines, handling trench cuttings, laying pipe sections, and performing backfilling and grading tasks. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with project specifications and safety protocols while maintaining equipment and collaborating with team members to achieve project goals.


Key Responsibilities:

Excavation and Pipeline Installation:

  • Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, backhoes, and bulldozers to excavate trenches for landfill gas pipelines.
  • Haul away trench cuttings and manage the removal of excess material from the worksite.
