Job summary

Republic Services Heavy Equipment Operator position in Fresno, CA safely operates various light and heavy equipment at a hazardous waste treatment facility or landfill. You will off-load trucks, stabilize waste, treat materials, sample post-treated materials for testing, and prepare shipments to landfills.

Regular maintenance and housekeeping are expected. The role requires knowledge of equipment operation, use of hand and power tools, basic vehicle inspections, and the ability to prioritize

Qualifications

• Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation.
• Ability to use hand and power tools applicable.
• Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance, including (but not limited to): check tire pressure, check oil and water levels.
• Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail.
• Must be able to prioritize, stay focused and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.
• A valid driver's license may be required for some positions.

POSITION SUMMARY:

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists in off-loading trucks and unloading waste.
• Operates equipment to stabilize and handle waste.
• Processes treatment of materials and containers.
• Samples post-treated materials for testing by laboratory.
• Loads cleared post-treatment materials for shipment to landfill or disposal.
• Performs general preventative maintenance to equipment and general housekeeping.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation.
• Ability to use hand and power tools applicable.
• Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance, including (but not limited to): check tire pressure, check oil and water levels.
• Demonstrates, accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail.
• Must be able to prioritize, stay focused and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.
• A valid driver's license may be required for some positions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Currently hold a 40-hour HAZWOPER (with 8-hour refresher) or ability to pass course upon hire, only required for all Environmental Solutions lines of business.
