Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate light and heavy equipment at a hazardous waste treatment facility or landfill. You will support off-loading, stabilization, and processing of waste, and participate in sample testing and post-treatment shipping.

The role requires knowledge of equipment operation and basic vehicle maintenance, with attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation.
• Ability to use hand and power tools.
• Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance (check tire pressure, oil/water levels).
• Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail.
• Must be able to prioritize, stay focused and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.
• A valid driver''s license may be required for some positions.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Heavy Equipment Operator safely operates various light and heavy equipment in a hazardous waste treatment processing facility or landfill.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists in off-loading trucks and unloading waste.

Operates equipment to stabilize and handle waste.

Processes treatment of materials and containers.

Samples post-treated materials for testing by laboratory.

Loads cleared post-treatment materials for shipment to landfill or disposal.

Performs general preventative maintenance to equipment and general housekeeping.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation.

Ability to use hand and power tools applicable.

Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance, including (but not limited to): check tire pressure, check oil and water levels.

Demonstrates, accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail.

Must be able to prioritize, stay focused and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.

A valid driver's license may be required for some positions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Currently hold a 40-hour HAZWOPER (with 8-hour refresher) or ability to pass course upon hire, only required for all Environmental Solutions lines of business.
