Job summary

Slack Electrical is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in Southwest Florida. The role involves safely operating excavators, skid steers, loaders, backhoes and trenchers on construction and electrical job sites, with emphasis on quality and safety.

You will inspect equipment daily, follow plans and supervisor instructions, and coordinate with crews to ensure efficient progress while maintaining a clean, safe work area and reporting any maintenance needs.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy construction equipment.
• Ability to safely operate excavators, skid steers, loaders, backhoes, trenchers.
• Read and follow plans, site layouts, and supervisor instructions.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• OSHA or other equipment-safety training preferred.
• Outdoor work in varying weather and travel between job sites.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators, skid steers, loaders, backhoes, trenchers and other heavy equipment.
• Perform excavation, trenching, grading, backfilling, material handling, and site preparation.
• Inspect equipment before and after each shift and report maintenance or safety concerns.
• Follow project plans, grade requirements, utility markings, and supervisor instructions.
• Safely work around underground utilities, electrical systems, vehicles, and construction crews.
• Assist with equipment loading, unloading, fueling, cleaning, and routine maintenance.

• Follow company safety procedures, traffic control requirements, and job-site regulations.
• Coordinate with supervisors and crew members to complete work efficiently.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
