Job summary

Sterling Construction Company, Inc. seeks an experienced Equipment Operator to join our heavy construction team in Texas. You will operate heavy equipment including backhoes, trackhoes, scrapers, dozers, excavators, loaders, and more, with or without GPS, to prepare job sites and meet grade specs.

Minimum 4 years of operating multiple types of heavy equipment required; willingness to labor and work under pressure with overtime and possible weekend shifts. Safety is a priority on all Ralph L.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of heavy equipment operating experience with multiple types of equipment.
• Willing to laborer work.
• Ability to work safely under pressure with time constraints in a changing environment.
• Flexibe availability to include overtime and possible weekends and nights.

Responsibilities

• Operate three or more types of heavy equipment such as backhoe, trackhoe, scrapers, dozer, excavator, loader, rock trucks, compactors, articulated trucks, crushers, and/or motor graders with or without GPS to prepare the job site to meet the required grades.
• Fasten attachments to tractors with clevis or wedge pin hitch.
• Connect hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or power take-off shaft to tractor to provide power to raise, lower, or tilt attachment.
• Move levers to control toolbars, carriers, and disks.
• Move hand and foot levers to control hydraulic shovel.
• Dig trenches and holes of specified length, depth and width; remove loosened material and put in piles or transport to trucks.
• Demonstrate safe operation and follow project specifications; work overtime as project needs require.

• Responsibletoconstruct/gradenewroadways,basecourses,buildingpads,footingexcavationandwaterpondsandtoproperlyslopeandgradetospecifications.
• Responsibletoload,move,levantgradedirt,rocks,demoedconcreteandothermaterialsinasafeandefficientmannerallinahighpacedenvironmenttomaintainproductiongoals.
• Abilitytomaintaintheinitiativetomaintaintheflowofworkunderminimalsupervision.
• Responsibleofdemolitionofbridgesandotherstructureswithexcavatorsandhydraulichoerams.
• ResponsibletooperateequipmentwithinaPipeCrewenvironmentsuchasanexcavatororloader.
• Responsibleforgeneralhousekeeping,lightmaintenanceofequipment,propercareofequipment,operatingtheequipmentwithoutdamagingitalongwithmaintenancechecksofequipmentincludingreportingusage/utilizationhoursonadailybasis.
• MayworkwithGPSinstalleddevicesondozersandmotorgraders.
• Learn,followandpromoteallsafetystandardsofRalphLWadsworthanditsprojects.
• Workweekend,holiday,and/orovertimeworkastheprojectneedsrequire.
• PerformLaborerworkasrequired
• Performsotherdutiesasassignedbyimmediatesupervisor.

• Haveaminimumof4yearsofHeavyEquipmentOperatingExperiencewithmultipletypesofequipmentorequivalentcombinationofeducationandexperience.
• Willingtodolaborerwork

• Frequentgrossbodymovementssuchasbending,climbingintoequipment,lifting(upto75lbs),twisting,standing,balancing,stooping,handlingmaterials,movingaroundhazardoussites.
• GoodEyetoHandcoordinationamust.Depthperceptionrequired.
• HighSchooldiploma/GEDpreferred.
