Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSalary: Hourly

OPERATOR

Asbell Excavating and Trucking, Inc. is currently seeking Operators with verifiable experience operating heavy equipment. The Operator must be versatile in their experience on equipment, including but not limited to excavators, loaders, backhoes, bulldozers, compactors, graders, and dump trucks. The Operator must be able to work extended hours and be willing to travel. A pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check is required of all successful candidates.

Essential Functions

  • Follow all instructions, rules and requests of the job Supervisor, Superintendent, Division Manager and others in the chain of command.
  • Safeguard equipment including inspecting, cleaning and greasing as needed. Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure equipment is working properly.
  • Take actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or falling objects.
  • Locate underground services, such as pipes or wires, prior to beginning work.
  • Learn and follow safety regulations.
  • Monitor operations to ensure that health and safety standards are met.
  • Willing to work and have reliable transportation.
  • Work well in a team, including but not limited to understanding and communicating information clearly.
  • Record field notes as requested.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Proficient in finish grading operations for dirt and base. Must be willing to help with laborer work when needed.
  • Must be self-motivated and dependable
  • Must have a valid driver's license, CDL but not required
  • Must be at least 18 years of .
  • BNSF, eRail, OSHA 10, and other safety trainings required, may obtain upon hire.

Physical Demands/Requirements

  • Continually manipulate handwheels and pedals to control attachments, such as blades, buckets, scrapers, or swing booms.
  • Visual ability to determine which of several objects is closer or farther away from you, or to judge the distance between you and an object.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk and stand on uneven surfaces.
  • The employee may be required to occasionally lift up to 50lbs, along with climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching and grasping.

Work Environment/Conditions

  • Continuously work outside in extreme environmental conditions, including hot, cold, and wet temperatures.
