Job summary

Premier Service Company Inc in Alabama is seeking a motivated Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. This hands-on role requires problem-solving, adaptability, and the ability to work in challenging conditions.

You will operate and maintain directional drills and hydro-vac, assist with field tasks, and support the Utilities department while upholding safety and company policies. The position requires long hours during drilling operations.

Qualifications

  • Driver's license required; CDL preferred for truck operation.
  • Basic algebra skills for locator tasks.
  • Willingness to perform non-operational tasks and long hours.
  • Dependable with flexible hours.

  • Transport equipment safely between job sites.
  • Ensure safety procedures and company policies are followed.
  • Commit to working long hours during drilling operations.

Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. This role is hands‑on and requires flexibility, problem‑solving, and the ability to work in challenging conditions. The operator will not only handle heavy machinery but also assist with daily field tasks, equipment transport, and utility support work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain heavy equipment including directional drills and hydro-vac.
  • Train and operate as a locator for directional drilling projects, requiring use of algebra in day‑to‑day tasks.
  • Perform manual labor as needed, including shoveling, setting ground boxes, and running duct banks.
  • Assist the Utilities (UT) Department with shutdowns, pulling wire, and installing in‑ground concrete boxes.
  • Transport equipment safely between job sites (using company truck – truck remains at the shop).
  • Ensure safety procedures and company policies are followed at all times.
  • Commit to working long hours when required, especially during drilling operations that must be completed without interruption.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
  • Valid driver’s license (must be able to drive company truck, but truck is not taken home).
  • Class A CDL strongly preferred.
  • Strong common sense and ability to learn locator operations for directional drilling.
  • Basic algebra skills (required for locator role).
  • Willingness to perform tasks beyond equipment operation, including hydro-vac and muddy site work.
  • Dependability and flexibility with work hours.
  • Previous experience in utilities, construction, or heavy equipment operation is a plus.
