Job DescriptionJob Description

We're seeking a Shop Service Technician to join the team! In this role, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing forklifts and related equipment in one of our W.D. Matthews Machinery Co. shop locations. This is a shop-based position where you'll work alongside a team of technicians under the guidance of the Shop Service Manager to complete service orders efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities:

• Perform mechanical inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on forklifts, aerial lifts, manlifts, and other material handling equipment (gas, diesel, propane, and electric)
• Maintain clean and organized workstations and ensure all safety protocols are followed, including lockout/tagout procedures
• Keep detailed records of service and maintenance activities according to company procedures
• Support parts ordering and tracking for repair jobs
• Collaborate with the service team to resolve repair issues and deliver high-quality results
• Clean, prep, and wash equipment as needed
• Occasionally assist with equipment fabrication or modifications

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of mechanical repair experience or a combination of education and relevant hands-on work
• Forklift maintenance experience is highly
• Strong mechanical aptitude with a working knowledge of engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
• General computer experience to operate diagnostic software
• High school diploma or GED required; vocational/technical training in automotive, equipment, or hydraulics is a plus
• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
• Must pass a pre-employment background check, physical, and drug screening
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs., and perform duties that require standing, bending, crawling, and climbing in a workshop environment
