Job summary

Independence Excavating, Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of construction equipment across projects. You will diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and perform precise repairs to keep our machines at peak performance.

Expect to conduct inspections, preventive maintenance, and rebuilds as needed while documenting work and coordinating with project teams for timely execution. Travel and CDL readiness are required for field assignments.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years of recent experience or training in vehicle/construction equipment repair and maintenance.
• Proficiency in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
• Experience with welding and fabrication is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and emission issues on heavy equipment.
• Perform inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure reliability.
• Teardown, rebuilds, and replacements of components for mobilization.
• Repair buckets and attachments and swap them as needed for projects.
• Document repairs and prepare work orders; collaborate with project teams for efficiency.
