Job summary

Altrad Sparrows in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain and repair a variety of construction equipment including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems. The role also involves assisting in training junior mechanics.

Qualified candidates will have 3–5 years of heavy/mobile equipment repair experience, a valid driver’s license, and their own hand tools. The position emphasizes safety, quality, and ongoing training within a global industrial services

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in the heavy/mobile equipment repair industry.
• Knowledge of all aspects of heavy and/or mobile equipment.
• Familiarity with gas and diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and understand hydraulic and electrical schematics.
• Capability to perform tasks independently.
• Must have own hand tools.
• Basic computer skills.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Read diagrams, schematic drawings, and service manuals on equipment.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment.
• Repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical components.
• Maintain knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems through ongoing training, industry workshops, and technical reading.
• Carry out preventative maintenance programs for mobile equipment.
• Observe competitive activities and contribute to the company’s image and reputation.
• Manage and maintain assigned tools and equipment.
• Follow driving guidelines for assigned company vehicles.
• Identify and request replacement parts to perform repairs.
• Complete all paperwork thoroughly and in a timely manner.
• Understand and comply with Sparrows Offshore’s Quality Policy and all requirements of the Quality System manual.
• Comply with all Safety and Environmental requirements.
• Perform other duties as required by the Supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.
