Job summary

American Engineering Testing Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot drilling rigs, construction equipment, and other heavy machinery used in geotechnical, environmental, and materials testing operations.

The role ensures safety and efficiency across field and lab testing projects. Responsibilities include diagnostic work, preventive maintenance, on-site support, and documentation of repairs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
  • Vocational training in diesel mechanics or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience with heavy equipment, drilling rigs, or construction machinery.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical diagnostics, and engine repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • CDL within 6 months of employment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues on drilling rigs and other heavy equipment.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance, oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and diagnostics.
  • Conduct pre-use inspections and safety checks to ensure optimal performance.
  • Provide on-site support at job locations, including emergency repairs.
  • Maintain detailed service logs and repair documentation.
  • Follow safety protocols and coordinate with engineers and project managers.
