Description
At Altus Technology Solutions, we are looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Computer Operator II to support operations at Moody Air Force Base in Georgia. Our team delivers mission-critical services to government customers in high-stakes environments.

In this role, you are responsible for diagnosing malfunctions, performing repairs, rebuilding, and maintaining a wide range of power equipment, including but not limited to tractors, motor graders, digging machines, bulldozers, and other heavy-duty vehicles and machinery.
In addition to mechanical responsibilities, this role requires experience and proficiency in computer operations. The individual will be responsible for:
Loading system programs and monitoring system operations.
Running diagnostic programs using desktop and/or laptop computer systems.
Training and observing other computer operators, providing immediate corrections to operational procedures as necessary.
Performing routine error correction and data editing at the computer console.
Notifying and assisting maintenance personnel in identifying and resolving system malfunctions, data errors, or formatting issue
Primary Responsibilities
Operates heavy equipment such as motor graders, front-end loaders, and bulldozers.
Dismantles and reassembles equipment, using housing hoists and hand tools
Examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.
Replaces defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions.
Tests overhauled equipment to insure operating efficiency.
Initiates computer systems operations.
Enters commands using keyboard I terminal and operates programs.
Provides data input briefs to supervisors as required.
Troubleshoots system malfunctions.
Maintains roads and ground within Grand Bay Range. Cuts grass using riding mowers. Prunes, trims and fertilizes grass, hedges and trees.
Repairs and paints fences, gates, and targets. Repair of roads, buildings and mechanical equipment. Cleans buildings, office and workshop areas, latrines, building pads and parking lot.
Fastens attachments such as graders, plows, disc harrows, and chisel plows to equipment. Adjusts equipment for proper operation. Lubricates and makes repairs to equipment and attachments.
Performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings.
Performs digging, filling and tamp earth excavations; levels ground using shovels, rakes; cleans culverts and ditches; moves and arranges heavy office furniture, equipment and appliances, moves heavy pieces of automotive and other types of equipment.
Performs daily prevention maintenance and inspection of vehicles and equipment.
Performs periodic maintenance on vehicles and equipment such as oil changes, draining and flushing tanks.
Maintain and initiates computer systems operations for "threat emitters" used on various aircraft while on and off range.
Maintain and initiates computer systems operations for Portable Infantry Targets System (PITS) "pop-up" displays, targets, and handheld controllers.
Perform SMOKEY SAM operations and maintenance IAW applicable technical orders and local operating instructions. Operate and deploy pyrotechnical threat devices.
Trained and qualified on range scoring systems. Scoring systems shall be operated and maintained to ensure maximum scoring accuracy.
Deploy to a maximum of 75 miles radius, program, set-up, and operate, portable radar visual; IR/UV (MANPADS); full scale mock-ups and inflatable threats; and pop-up target threat equipment and other associated equipment within and outside the main PTR location boundaries; and should be familiar with tactical employment of threats to support aircrew training.
Operates M-2 scoring system as back-up.
Set up and operate BASH equipment in accordance with the local base BASH Plan and notifies the RCO of any hazardous bird activity.
Constructs and maintains targets using various materials.
