Qualdoc is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic in Taneytown, MD to repair, maintain, and troubleshoot heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, and other motorized equipment.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of hands-on maintenance across hydraulic, electrical, small engines, and related systems, with a valid driver's license and strong safety focus. Starting pay is $24.00/hour, with higher pay possible based on experience.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in at least two technical areas, including hydraulics, electronics, small engines, or air conditioning.
  • High School Diploma/GED with trade school or factory training equivalent to an associate degree.

Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Location: Taneytown, MD
Job Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
Starting Pay: $24.00/hour, with higher pay available depending on experience

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to perform repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting on heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, and other motorized equipment. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical skills, hands-on experience with multiple technical systems, and a commitment to safety and quality work.

Responsibilities
  • Perform mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, and other motorized equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair issues involving hydraulics, electronics, small engines, air conditioning, and other mechanical systems.
  • Complete work orders accurately and document mileage, hours, dates, and repair details.
  • Follow all applicable safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and orderly work area, including tools and equipment.
  • Work with the Shop Foreman to prioritize and address emergency repairs.
  • Minimize equipment downtime and complete repairs in a timely manner.
  • Travel as needed for work-related training, meetings, or assignments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • 5+ years of hands-on maintenance experience with heavy equipment, trailers, cranes, trucks, or similar equipment.
  • 5+ years of experience in at least two technical areas, including hydraulics, electronics, small engines, air conditioning, or other related mechanical systems.
  • High School Diploma/GED plus trade school, dealership, or factory service training equivalent to an associate degree.
  • Training and experience equivalent to 2 years of technical/vocational school and 5 years of hands-on repair and maintenance of heavy equipment.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize work and respond with a sense of urgency when needed.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to understand, write, and communicate effectively.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record.
  • Professional certifications related to heavy equipment maintenance and repair are preferred.
  • Ability to obtain additional certifications as required.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Frequent bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, climbing, walking, standing, sitting, and carrying materials or parts.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to work extended hours when required.
  • Regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Assistance is required for items weighing more than 75 pounds or items that present ergonomic challenges during lifting, movement, or placement.
