Job summary

Quikrete Heavy Construction Materials is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic in Sawyer, OK to maintain and service yellow iron equipment on active sites. You will work under the Maintenance Supervisor or Head Mechanic to diagnose and repair engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and more, ensuring minimal downtime.

Responsibilities include preventative maintenance, field diagnostics, and accurate reporting of service notes.

Qualifications

• 1+ year heavy equipment/yellow iron mechanic experience (preferred).
• Strong understanding of Caterpillar, Komatsu, or John Deere equipment.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair engine, hydraulic, electrical, cooling, fuel, and drive train systems.
• Perform scheduled PMs following OEM/company standards.
• Troubleshoot fault codes using CAT ET or similar software.
• Field service: respond to breakdowns and perform diagnostics on sites.
• Complete accurate service reports and track parts usage and labor hours.
• Follow safety guidelines including Lockout/Tagout and 360° walkaround inspections.

We are looking for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team in Sawyer, OK. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic with Quikrete Heavy Construction Materials, you will be responsible for maintenance and servicing of yellow iron equipment with or without direction from the Maintenance Supervisor or Head Mechanic.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance & Repair

• Diagnose and repairengine,hydraulic,electrical,cooling,fuel, anddrive trainsystems.
• Service and rebuild components such as: Hydraulic cylinders (boom, stick, bucket), Pumps and motors, Final drives, Swing bearings, Radiators, coolers, and aftercoolers, DEF/NRS systems, Undercarriage
• Perform scheduledPreventative Maintenance (PMs)following OEM and company standards.
• Troubleshoot fault codes usingCAT ETor similar diagnostic software.
• Identify root causes of repeated failures and report them to the Equipment Manager.
• Perform welding and fabrication as needed (pins, bushings, brackets, guards).

Field Service

• Respond to breakdowns on active jobsites (aggregate pits, construction sites, etc.).
• Safely perform field diagnostics and repairs with minimal downtime.
• Communicate equipment status and ETA on repairs.

Documentation & Communication

• Complete accurate service reports and work orders.
• Track parts usage, labor hours, and service notes.
• Relay equipment needs, operator issues, or safety concerns.

Safety

• Follow all safety guidelines includingLockout/Tagoutand 360° walkaround inspections.
• Maintain a clean, organized service truck and shop area.
• Report unsafe conditions immediately.

About You

We Require:

• Experience:
  • 1+ years heavy equipment/yellow iron mechanic experience (preferred).
  • Strong understanding ofCaterpillar, Komatsu, or John Deereequipment.
  • Proficient with hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting.
• Technical Skills:
  • Ability to read equipment schematics and parts diagrams.
  • Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work in outdoor jobsite conditions.
