Job summary

Quikrete Heavy Construction Materials is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to maintain and repair yellow iron equipment at Sawyer, OK. You will diagnose engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and perform PMs in a hands-on role on site.

Qualifications

• 1+ years heavy equipment/yellow iron mechanic experience
• Strong understanding of Caterpillar, Komatsu, or John Deere equipment
• Proficient with hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting
• Ability to read equipment schematics and parts diagrams
• Welding and fabrication experience preferred
• Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair engine, hydraulic, electrical, cooling, fuel, and drive train systems.
• Service and rebuild components such as hydraulic cylinders, Pumps and motors, Final drives, Swing bearings, Radiators and coolers.
• Perform scheduled Preventative Maintenance following OEM and company standards.
• Troubleshoot fault codes using CAT ET or similar diagnostic software.
• Identify root causes of repeated failures and report to Equipment Manager.
• Perform welding and fabrication as needed.
• Respond to breakdowns on active jobsites and perform field diagnostics and repairs.
• Complete accurate service reports and track parts usage, labor hours and notes.
• Follow safety guidelines including Lockout/Tagout and 360° walkarounds.

We are looking for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team in Sawyer, OK. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic with Quikrete Heavy Construction Materials, you will be responsible for maintenance and servicing of yellow iron equipment with or without direction from the Maintenance Supervisor or Head Mechanic.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance & Repair

• Diagnose and repairengine,hydraulic,electrical,cooling,fuel, anddrive trainsystems.
• Service and rebuild components such as: Hydraulic cylinders (boom, stick, bucket), Pumps and motors, Final drives, Swing bearings, Radiators, coolers, and aftercoolers, DEF/NRS systems, Undercarriage
• Perform scheduledPreventative Maintenance (PMs)following OEM and company standards.
• Troubleshoot fault codes usingCAT ETor similar diagnostic software.
• Identify root causes of repeated failures and report them to the Equipment Manager.
• Perform welding and fabrication as needed (pins, bushings, brackets, guards).

Field Service

• Respond to breakdowns on active jobsites (aggregate pits, construction sites, etc.).
• Safely perform field diagnostics and repairs with minimal downtime.
• Communicate equipment status and ETA on repairs.

Documentation & Communication

• Complete accurate service reports and work orders.
• Track parts usage, labor hours, and service notes.
• Relay equipment needs, operator issues, or safety concerns.

Safety

• Follow all safety guidelines includingLockout/Tagoutand 360° walkaround inspections.
• Maintain a clean, organized service truck and shop area.
• Report unsafe conditions immediately.

About You

We Require:

• Experience:
  • 1+ years heavy equipment/yellow iron mechanic experience (preferred).
  • Strong understanding ofCaterpillar, Komatsu, or John Deereequipment.
  • Proficient with hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting.
• Technical Skills:
  • Ability to read equipment schematics and parts diagrams.
  • Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work in outdoor jobsite conditions.
