Job summary

Keller Foundations, Inc. is seeking a Field Heavy Equipment Mechanic to support geotechnical construction projects in the Miami region.

The role involves hands-on repair of heavy diesel equipment, electrical and hydraulic systems, and preventative maintenance with occasional travel. Qualified candidates will have 5+ years of experience in heavy equipment repairs, be able to read schematics, and operate safely in outdoor sites.

Qualifications

• Hands-on mechanic experience required in heavy equipment repairs.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy equipment repairs.
• Willingness to travel to client sites as needed.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
• Experience with electrical and hydraulic systems and schematics.
• Familiarity with E-stop systems and pilot circuits.
• Capable of maintaining heavy equipment and operating controls.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair heavy equipment including drill rigs, cranes, and diesel-powered machinery.
• Perform electrical and hydraulic diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
• Adhere to safety standards and OSHA training; work outdoors in varying conditions.

Keller is actively searching for a qualified Field Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our successful geotechnical construction team in the Miami region.

Responsibilities

More experienced applicants will have experience with heavy drill rigs (Klemm, SoilMec, and or Watson) used in geotechnical construction, concrete pumps, air compressors, generators, and other heavy diesel equipment. The safe operation of basic heavy equipment including forklifts, wheeled front end loaders, and excavators is also a plus, along with holding a valid CDL license.

We also welcome mechanics with strong heavy hydraulic and diesel backgrounds from related industries, including:

• Crane mechanics (crawler, rough terrain, and all-terrain cranes)
• Water well, mining, and blasthole drill rig mechanics (Epiroc, Sandvik, and similar)
• Oil and gas field mechanics (drilling rigs, frac and pressure pumping equipment)
• Military mechanics, such as Army 91L (Construction Equipment Repairer), 91B (Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic), 91D (Power Generation Equipment Repairer), USMC 1341 (Engineer Equipment Mechanic), and Navy Seabee Construction Mechanics (CM)
• Heavy equipment dealer technicians (Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu, Volvo, Case)
• Agricultural equipment mechanics (tractors, combines, and large hydraulic implements)
• Marine diesel and hydraulic mechanics (tugs, barges, dredges, and marine construction equipment)
• Mining equipment mechanics (surface and underground)
• Forestry and logging equipment mechanics
• Railroad maintenance-of-way equipment mechanics
• Heavy truck and fleet diesel technicians with hydraulic system experience

The safe operation of basic heavy equipment including forklifts, wheeled front end loaders, and excavators is also a plus, along with holding a valid CDL.

This position is based in Miami, FL. No travel outside the city is required.

In addition to the responsibilities above, applicants will be expected to perform basic labor tasks when not assigned to typical mechanic operations. These labor tasks may require extensive physical activity at times.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must have or be:

• Hands-on mechanic experience
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Heavy Equipment Repairs
• Self-motivated and willing to travel
• Diagnosis and troubleshooting
• Strong in Electrical and hydraulic systems
• Electric and hydraulic schematic reading and navigation
• Pilot system circuits
• E-Stop systems
• Machine maintenance
• Operating controls and functions
• Ability to work in a team environment with interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to perform physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks; to include frequent bending, kneeling and lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
• Comfortable working outdoors in a high-stress environment with extreme weather fluctuations
• Ability to work in confined and cluttered spaces
• Capable of climbing and keeping balance on uneven areas
• Prior OSHA, First Aid, and/or Safety Training preferred
• Specific experience working on equipment typically found in geotechnical construction is a plus

Additional Information

Salary Range: $36 - $52 per hour

Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors including relevant internal and external experience, knowledge, skills, scope of job, geographical location or other factors permitted by law
