Muller Inc. in Manassas, VA is seeking a Full-Time Heavy Equipment Mechanic to diagnose and repair trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment, and to oversee preventative maintenance and service calls in the DMV area.

The role requires 3 years of heavy equipment experience, own basic tools, and wiring knowledge on trailers and Ford trucks; handling shop and field diagnostics with occasional welding and component replacement will be needed.

Qualifications

• 3 years of heavy equipment mechanical work experience.
• Must have own tools-basic hand tools (wrenches).
• Must have wiring knowledge on trailers and Ford trucks (lighting/electrical/Airlines).
• Experience on trucks and CAT equipment or equivalent.
• Service calls experience.
• Preventative Maintenance experience on truck and smaller equipment (oil changes, tire rotation, grease, change filters, brake work is a plus).

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative services on trucks and equipment at the shop.
• Perform small and quick diagnostics or report back faulty items in the field.
• Diagnostics on trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and small equipment at the shop.
• Perform small repairs in the field such as hydraulic line repairs, alternator replacements, battery replacements, quick assembly glass doors.
• Quality control checks of the crew's daily maintenance and training for team members.
• Take small portable equipment or safety related items to job sites on route for the day.
• PM services on trucks and equipment, wiring on trailers as well as brakes and suspension work, and welding as needed.
• Brakes, changing tires on smaller and larger trucks, and replacing components.
• Road calls in DMV area; replace hydraulics lines and work on small equipment.
• Special projects or other duties as assigned.

Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Type: Full Time, Exempt

Location: Manassas, VA

Reports to: Director of Field Administration AND Service Manager

Muller is a full-service Site Work Contractor based in Northern Virginia. Our unique technology and systems-driven approach has led us to become a leading provider of sustainable civil construction services throughout Maryland, Virginia, and DC.

With the rapid growth of our business, we are seeking to hire a full time, Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team in Manassas, VA. In this role, the Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing and performing all repairs, overseeing service calls, and completing/overseeing preventative maintenance to yard equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Perform preventative services on trucks and equipment at the shop.
• Perform small and quick diagnostics or report back faulty items in the field.
• Mechanic will be doing diagnostics on trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and small equipment at the shop.
• Perform small repairs in the field such as hydraulic line repairs, alternator replacements on equipment, battery replacements, quick assembly glass doors, etc.
• Perform quality control checks of the crew's daily maintenance - this will provide accountability for who is completing reports correctly and will also serve as training for team members who are filling out reports
• Take small portable equipment or safety related items to job sites that are located on their route for the day - fire extinguisher replacements, small tools, etc.
• The mechanic will do PM services on trucks and equipment, will do wiring on trailers as well as brakes and suspension work, and will be some welding as needed on trailers and trucks.
• Mechanic will be doing brakes, changing tires on smaller trucks and larger trucks, and replacing components as they go bad.
• The mechanic will have to do some road calls as needed through out the DMV area. Mechanic will also change hydraulics lines on equipment and other machines as well as working on small equipment.
• Special projects or other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

• Employee must be physically fit to perform manual labor in all types of environments and conditions, including heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.).
• Regularly required to sit and stand, must be able to use hands to fingers, handle or feel and verbally communicate and listen.
• Other physical requirements include walking, climbing or balancing and stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling. Specific vision abilities required by the position include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Required Qualifications:

• 3 years of heavy equipment mechanical work experience
• Must have own tools-basic hand tools (wrenches, no diagnostic tools)
• Must have wiring knowledge on trailers and Ford trucks (lighting/electrical/Airlines)
• Experience on trucks and CAT equipment or something equivalent (smaller equipment)
• Service calls experience
• Preventative Maintenance experience on truck and smaller equipment (oil change, tire rotation, grease, change filters, brake work is a plus)
